Edison Innovation Foundation, based in New Jersey. Praveen is a UBC BComm, is a designated CPA from KPMG (in 2015 was awarded his FCPA, CPA), and a past recipient of Business in Vancouver’s 40 Under 40 award. We also have reason to believe he knows where the fountain of youth is hidden.
CEO & CO-Founder of Prizm Media Inc.Before becoming a serial entrepreneur, Zeeshan competed at a national level for Taekwondo. Learning Taekwondo gave him the discipline, ethics, and integrity needed to lead Prizm Health towards the success it is today. Zeeshan is also a blogger at the Huffington Post where he shares his expertise in how technology is changing the healthcare industry and what the future will bring. Recently Zeeshan and his wife Karina were selected finalists in the 2015 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year. His drive and vision stems from his belief that healthcare should be accessible to every member of society regardless of their economic or social standing.
Operations Manager and LiaisonSchannel joined Refood in 2016 to feed people instead of landfills after learning about how much food is being wasted. Growing up in Indonesia (a country with a high rate of poverty), Schannel has always had an eagerness to help others increase their quality of life. She believes that by having food in their tummies, people are more capable to reach their potential. At Refood she handles the day-to-day operations, making sure volunteers pick up food from the food vendors and charities accept food from our volunteers.
Logistics Manager, Aspiring Spatial AnalystEmma is currently an undergraduate student at SFU pursuing her Bachelor of Environment degree with spatial analysis specialization. Yearning to end poverty and global warming she believes Refood provides a stepping stone in helping the environment and will lead the team to great achievements in the future. Emma uses her knowledge in geomatics to create a mapping system that ensures efficiency and cost-effective in daily operations.
LiaisonCurrently in her second year at UBC studying Food, Nutrition and Health. Jamie Chan combines a mix of passion and tenacity to this social venture to help others get educated about food management and waste. In her spare time, she does competitive karate and chills out to jams on guitar.
With the pursuit of Computer Engineering at his forte, Lucian aspires to somehow help the world through technology, making his recent addition into Refood the first big leap towards such a goal. Similarly, Lucian has also grown up in Romania, where social infrastructures such as food banks are not available for those in need, is also the leading force in his endeavours. During his free time, he seeks to hike the tallest mountains of British Columbia, plays the acoustic guitar, sings, and develops his photography skills.
